Foreign investment doubled in the first two months of the year compared to the same period last year. The Minister of Innovation and Growth, Daniel Lorer, presented four certificates issued under the Investment Promotion Act (IPA).

The total value of the investment projects is BGN 30.5 million, and they will create 170 new jobs. Two of the promoted projects are Class A – of Rolplast and Marelli Systems and the other two are Class B – of Smart Organic and Shipka 99. The official ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Innovation and Growth Desislava Boneva and the Executive Director of InvestBulgaria Agency Bogdan Bogdanov.

Lorer announced that all of them are export-oriented companies, two of which are in municipalities with unemployment above the national average. “Five more projects with a total investment of BGN 101 million are in the process of certification within weeks, which will create 1,200 new jobs,” he added.

According to him, the active work on attracting investments in our country since the beginning of the year has led to increasing the interest of companies in our country. Minister Lorer cites preliminary data from the BNB, according to which foreign investment in Bulgaria has doubled in the first two months of this year, compared to the same period last year.

The Minister of Innovation and Growth pointed out that investments in the country are not limited to certified projects. “As a result of the dialogue with investors in recent months, we have announced plans to expand production and build new plants by companies in Bulgaria worth nearly BGN 250 million. They are in the automotive, furniture and textile industries,” he added.

The new Executive Director of the InvestBulgaria Agency, Bogdan Bogdanov, stated that Bulgaria has the opportunity to speed up the process of attracting investment. “We have a targeted program with priority sectors with high added value for the next 18 months. The idea is for us to proactively meet with potential investors, to explain the advantages for them to be in Bulgaria. On the other hand, to promote the development of local companies, which are currently a driving force in the economy. We aim to create synergies between the companies that operate in our country and those that are still aiming to enter, “Bogdanov said.
